Tennessee Titans make immediate Will Levis decision after getting first win without him

Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis suffered an injury in the first quarter of his team's surprising 31-12 road victory over the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.

The always-daring Levis attempted to dive past defender Storm Duck for a first down on a first-quarter scramble. On the sidelines, he could be seen mouthing "I think I just hurt my shoulder."

Levis was replaced by former Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph. Although the Titans starter appeared ready to re-enter the game late in the second quarter, he did not take another snap.

Speaking with ESPN's Laura Rutledge before halftime, Titans coach Brian Callahan said: “It’s just a matter of if he can physically play. If he can play, he’ll go, but Mason’s done a really nice job for us."

Callahan's comments showed immediate confidence in the much-beleaguered Levis. The first-year head coach previously shut down any conversation of a potential change under center and reiterated to reporters postgame that Levis will "100%" be his starting quarterback if healthy going forward.

Neither quarterback played particularly well against Miami. Levis completed his first three passes for 25 yards before throwing an inexplicable interception into triple-coverage and the waiting arms of defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah.

Rudolph was hardly more impressive, although he did lead the team to a win. Offensive coordinator Nick Holz ran a handicapped offense the rest of the way with Tony Pollard as the focal point. The running back tallied 128 total yards and added a score to cap off the victory.

Rudolph., a 2018 third-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers, completed nine of his 17 passes for 85 yards. He's had success as a starting quarterback in the past, winning his three starts last season to earn a shot in the 2023 AFC Playoffs.

The Titans offense scored more than 30 points for the first time since 2021 - a game coincidentally also against the Dolphins.

Tennessee's defense was the real star of the show: the unit held Tyler Huntley and the Miami offense to just 184 yards of total offense. The offense

If Levis is ruled healthy enough to play, Callahan and company will turn to him once again in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts. But a win without him and with Rudolph under center has given them something to think about.
