A Michigan woman gave harrowing testimony about how her ex-husband would tie her up for hours and electrocute her in their basement in a bout of jealousy.

Saul Lucio-Ipina, 32, pleaded no contest to two counts of torture , as well as witness interference during the first day of his trial in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The charges are related to two incidents that occurred last year in the basement he shared with his then-wife, MLive reported.

Prosecutors showed jurors an hourlong video of the abused woman’s interview with Grand Rapids police. In the body-worn footage, the woman showed the officer bruises on her torso, arms and neck. His ex-wife also took the stand to testify about the horrific torture she was subjected to when Lucio-Ipina would accuse her of cheating on him.

She testified that the first incident took place in January 2023. She said Lucio-Ipina told her to go into the basement and stand on a bucket. “And then he put the rope around my neck,” she reportedly testified.

He placed a rope that was hanging from the ceiling beam around her neck, and at one point she slipped off the bucket and was being hung until he stepped in and helped her, she said. That incident was not reported to the police.

Two months later in March, during another argument regarding cheating, Lucio-Ipina made his ex-wife sit in a children’s swing hung in the basement. “He tied me up with rope and a metal wire around my arms and through my back,” she reportedly testified. “I couldn’t get up if I wanted to.”

Lucio-Ipina also hooked jumper cables to an exposed wire in the basement and electrocuted her with it. “Any time I would answer a question or didn’t answer a question, he would zap me,” she testified.

Lucio-Ipina left her tied up for about five hours before he became tired and set her free, she told investigators. The incidents were described as torture, Kent County Assistant Prosecutor Angela Curtis told jurors during her opening statement.

“His intent was to inflict as much pain and suffering … as possible,” she said. Lucio-Ipina is set to be sentenced Oct. 28 in Judge George Quist’s courtroom.

so obviously this has gone on for awhile and she didn't try defying his orders before tying her up or making her stand on a bucket??? I think she would have fought some beforehand. Doesn't change what he did!!!
