A Pennsylvania father allegedly shot and killed his own son after an argument over a car and then watched religious videos for 12 hours before calling the cops.

John F. Gustites, 67, faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault in the death of his son, John A. Gustites, 42, police said.

The deadly shooting happened on Saturday morning when Gustites woke up at around 8:30 a.m. finding his son chasing one of their cats in his room, Skook News reported. Gustites then went into his son's room to get one of his cats when his son started demanding he give him the family's car .

That led to an argument and Gustites left his son's room to go get his .357 Magnum Revolver, and returned to his son's room. As they continued arguing, his son grabbed a screwdriver and approached him with him when he was shot in the face.

Gustites told police he does not remember pulling the trigger but said he must have. He told police he immediately knew his son was dead, but didn't call police because he was contemplating suicide. He then went on to watch religious videos for several hours, which led him to call police.

At 8 p.m. police arrived to the house on Franklyn Street and found Gustites sitting on the front porch. He is currently being held at the Schuylkill County Prison with bail set at $250,000. He’s set to appear in court on Oct. 10.
