Fans fume as Disney Channel star charges over $750 for meet and greet amid band tour announcement

As Disney stars continue to crash and burn , Ross Lynch and his band, The Driver Era, made a bold plea for fans' money.

Ross notoriously played musician Austin Moon on Disney Channel 's Austin & Aly, debuting as an actor before moving on to the network's production Teen Beach Movie and its subsequent sequel. Alongside his acting career, he attempted to pursue his dream of music, linking up with his siblings, Riker, Ryland, Rocky, and Rydel, and Ellington Ratliff. However, in 2018, R5 came to an end with Rocky and Ross going on to perform together in a band called The Driver Era.

The musical duo paved their way through the industry, announcing a world tour on Sept. 30 which will take them across the United States, Australia , New Zealand, Brazil , and Chile. However, fans noticed a major price leap, taking their VIP packages to upwards of $750.

The VIP ticket typically comes, depending on the venue, with a general admission pit ticket and a meet and greet with the band. A lower tier VIP ticket, sitting at prices of around $250, affords fans access to a soundcheck and Q&A session with them. However, these hefty prices come with incredible backlash from their fanbase.

Many fans felt the band simply wasn't worth the dollars. One wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, "I would pay $500 tops for a m&g and that would be for like … someone VERY famous. The driver era just played the smallest venue in my hometown … like they are NOT famous enough to be charging that."

In fact, others also noticed a shift in the band's sense of self-importance since their previous tour. "Were the driver era not begging people in line last tour to buy their vip……….now why yall charging $700," said another fan.

A third wrote: "I seriously love them and have been a fan since 2012 but no one should buy the Driver Era meet n greet for $700 no artist should get away with charging that much."

A fan also slammed the band by pulling up an old Matty Healy quote. The 1975 frontman shaded bands who charge for meet and greets by saying, “If you're an artist and you do paid meet-and-greets … you take the money off the fan. I challenge you to do that.
