Jeopardy! fans are wondering about the present atmosphere of the game show since the late Alex Trebek passed away in 2020.

On a subreddit for the trivia show , a fan posed a question and a observation that Jeopardy! is changing. The thread was titled with the question, "is Jeopardy! changing?"

"When I look at games and clues from now and a few years ago, they feel a bit different. I can articulate a a bit of difference like I think they're harder now, but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed some other qualitative differences in clues in the post-Trebek era?" the poster added in the post for context.

Many fans took to the Reddit thread and agreed that show has changed, giving their opinions on the varying questions' level of difficulties and to the different type of clues.

One fan wrote: "I think there are more wordplay clues, and [producer] Michael Davies has said on the podcast that he likes those types of clues. I don’t much care for them as my brain doesn’t work that way as well. I prefer the straightforward trivia clues." A second fan responded, syaing: "I would not mind the word play clues so much if they could just keep them up on the gosh darn screen rather than cutting to the contestants. They are impossible for my dyslexic brain unless i can continue to see them. So thus i loathe them as they are presented."

Another fan commented: "Ick, I hate the wordplay clues. Tonight there was an entire category I completely failed to comprehend."A fourth fan said: "I think the questions are harder." A fifth viewer agreed and made another comparison: "I feel like they’re harder too, but I also feel like the most important clues like the daily doubles and final are a lot easier than when Alex was hosting."

One person noted that Davies had once said on the Jeopardy! podcast that he wanted to add new material not seen before.

Jeopardy! started their season 41 on September 9 with host Ken Jennings. The former Jeopardy! champion was the solo emcee for all of season 40 and returned back again. He first guest-hosted 2021 in the aftermath of Alex's death due to his stage four pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

The late 80-year-old's final episode aired on January 8, 2021. Ken was then made a permanent host and co-hosted with actress Mayim Bialik until she was fired.
