An Ohio woman has gone viral after posting about her supposed haunted house and discovering a rolled up carpet buried in her backyard.

Earlier this week, Katie Santry from Columbus, Ohio, took to TikTok to document mysterious mishaps going on in her house , including an inexplicable shattered laptop screen, and personal items on her desk out of order in her sunroom only she has access to.

To add to the unexplained, Santry said that her and her boyfriend discovered a rolled up carpet buried in their backyard where they were trying to put up a fence. The bizarre instances led her to ask: "Is there a dead body in that rug? Or is it the ghost of the rug’s past?"

“My next-door neighbor also died in her house the day we bought this house last October," she added. “That house started getting boarded up the same day this happened. So it was just a series of weird, coincidental events that, with a creative mind, could be construed as ghostly.”

Viewers were hooked and Santry began to document her next steps. When she posted herself trying to dig up the rug, commenters told her to reach out to police. Eventually the Columbus Police Department arrived to her home and after checking out the backyard they decided to call in an excavator to extract the rug.

But the chief of police overruled the call, saying that officers could not deploy resources, and that it would be up to Santry to dig up the carpet herself and call them back if anything was found. Santry was going to leave it be but commenters told her to not let up and she was getting ready to host a livestream of her and her friends digging up the carpet, when the homicide department called her and said they wanted to send cadaver dogs over to her house and inspect the area.

The dogs immediately went to the area with the rug, which could be a sign that there are human remains in the area. But it could also indicate that it could mean there is blood on the rug, which is not indicative of anything nefarious.

In her latest update posted on Friday evening, Santry said the hole has been dug up. She said no body was found, just a rug with some rubber. She said its still not clear why two separate dogs hit the area, and also what happened to her laptop.

"This has been the most absurd, insane experience of my life," she told her followers. She said she is confused but grateful there was no body recovered, but her followers are not convinced this is the end of the rug saga, with some theorizing the rug is evidence and the body is located somewhere else.

"This saga isn’t over. Something happened on that rug," one person commented. "I simply cannot accept this answer," another invested follower wrote.
