A 2-year-old girl died of suspected fentanyl exposure last month. Now, the police are desperately searching for her mother, who is also reportedly wanted for "several violent crimes ."

Mary Jacobo, 26, has been in the wind for approximately three weeks, since the death of her toddler at their Portland, Oregon, home on Sept. 12.

The young girl, who has not been officially named by the police but who was identified by OregonLive as Aurora Fernandez, reportedly went into cardiac arrest that day and was swiftly transported from the home to a local hospital by ambulance, where she died.

The official cause of death for the young girl hasn't yet been confirmed, but the police suspect that the conditions of the home played a role in her passing.

"Based on evidence discovered at the child's home and conversations with hospital staff, fentanyl is believed to be a contributing factor," the Portland Police Bureau said in a press conference.

The police had wanted to speak with Jacobo but found themselves unable to find her after she allegedly left the home as the ordeal played out that fateful September day.

"Significant investigatory efforts" by the police have all been unfruitful, the police said on Friday. Jacobo is also suspected of committing an armed carjacking and other unspecified crimes, ABC News reported, citing the police.

The 26-year-old also has multiple warrants out for her arrest, but the details of those warrants remain a mystery. The police said they were unwilling to divulge more information about them because Jacobo isn't in custody yet.

Nevertheless, the police asked for the public's assistance in locating Jacobo as they warned that she's considered armed and dangerous. She stands at 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 135 pounds, has hazel eyes and brown hair that may have recently been dyed blonde, and she has tattoos on the front of her neck, chest and on her left hand. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 911.

Aurora's father, Jacob Anthony Fernandez, said, according to OregonLive, that his daughter was "the sweetest, most amazing child" who was "full of love and life." He took to social media to fundraise for his daughter's memorial and said he's "so angry and dying inside more and more every day" since her passing.

The police told local station KPTV that there have been 210 overdoses in the region since the start of the year, with five of them involving children. The community is on edge amid the ongoing drug crisis.
