Carolina Panthers player ‘knocked unconscious’ after sickening hit in Chicago Bears game

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble appeared to be knocked unconscious by a brutal hit against the Chicago Bears .

On Sunday at Soldier Field, the Bears and Panthers clashed with Chicago's rookie quarterback Caleb Williams enjoying a productive outing while the run game finally found momentum. However, fans were left stunned and shocked when Tremble went down following a huge hit by safety Jaquan Brisker.

Tremble endured the sickening hit to the head on a seven-yard catch from quarterback Andy Dalton with just under three minutes remaining in the second quarter. He lost a fumble in the process with Bears defensive lineman Gervon Dexter making the recovery, but Panthers fans and staff were more focused on the 24-year-old's condition.

Tremble appeared to be fully unconscious as he lay and pulsated on the ground, although he was able to walk to the sideline under his own power and then went to the locker room for a concussion check. If Tremble eventually is diagnosed with such an injury and ruled out, Ja'Tavion Sanders and Feleipe Franks will represent the Panthers' available and healthy tight ends for the rest of Week 5.

Tremble's return to the contest is questionable. Tremble, who missed practice earlier this week with a knee issue, has 59 yards on seven receptions with zero touchdowns for the struggling Panthers so far this season.

In his Panthers career, Tremble has 69 catches for 607 yards and seven scores. His injury is another blow to the Panthers offense, which has struggled immensely in 2024 aside from the franchise's surprise dominant win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Chicago also proceeded to take advantage of the turnover by delivering a three-play, 44-yard drive to the end zone. Bears running back D’Andre Swift starred on the possession, moving the ball downfield with a 42-yard catch-and-run before scoring on a 1-yard rush.

Swift and the Bears have been able to run all over the Panthers defense, with the NFC North franchise finishing the first half with over 100 rushing yards. The Panthers were able to get on the board first after Chuba Hubbard scored on a 38-yard touchdown run, but Chicago hit back with a quick drive which capped off when former Panthers receiver DJ Moore hauled in a 34-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Williams.

Chicago started the second quarter by finishing off a drive with a Roschon Johnson touchdown run, making the scoreline read 14-7. Swift scored following Tremble's fumble, and Moore snagged a second touchdown reception to make the score 27-7 at the halfway point.
