Jake Paul told he has made big mistake ahead of Mike Tyson fight

Boxing fans believe Jake Paul is too heavy ahead of his fight with Mike Tyson next month.

YouTuber Paul will take on heavyweight legend Tyson in Dallas on November 15, four months after they were originally due to meet in the ring. Paul has bulked up for the fight and has been training with a prosthetic belly in recent months in a bizarre attempt to convince fans he is not taking the bout seriously.

But after posting a video of a recent sparring session, Paul came in for criticism about his actual weight having previously boxed at cruiserweight. He will step up to heavyweight to take on former undisputed world champion Tyson, potentially adding 30lb to his frame for the showdown in front of up to 90,000 fans.

And one fan said: "He’s too heavy and moves too slow for Mike... early knock out buddy" while another added: "He looks heavy as f---". Another noted: "Jake looks decent heavy but honestly he looks best at 190." Fans also noted several other criticisms, including that Paul's sparring partner barely returned fire during the short session.

"He's sparring someone that don’t fight back," said another commentator on social media. "Pretty sure Mike would punch back," added another. One more mocked: "Bro sparring my drunk uncle". There was some praise for Paul but the best of it came from his own former coach BJ Flores, who said: "That jab to the body sets up a heavy right hand all day. Great punch selection. Insane pace for a heavyweight."

Paul has come under fire for agreeing to fight 58-year-old Tyson given the 30-year age gap between the combatants. Tyson has not fought since boxing to a bore draw in his exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr four years ago.

Prior to that, his last outing saw him quit on his stool after five rounds against Kevin McBride in 2000. And while Paul will come nowhere near to scaling the heights of Tyson's career, he has been activer since turning professional in 2020.

He has won all but one of his 11 fights, losing to Tommy Fury last year. But since then he has notched wins against Mike Perry, Ryan Bourland, Andre August and Nate Diaz to set himself up for the biggest event of his career.

Both men have promised a knockout at the AT&T Stadium but many experts believe Tyson has little chance unless he can land a knockout blow in the opening two rounds. The rivals will meet over eight two-minute sessions and will wear larger-than-normal 14oz gloves.
