Davante Adams fuels NFL trade speculation after abruptly canceling Tuesday plans

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has added further fuel to trade rumors after canceling an appearance on the Up and Adams Show.

Adams was scheduled to appear on Kay Adams' one-hour sports television show on FanDuel TV and YouTube on Tues amid intense speculation over his future in Nevada. "Oh boy - lots happening at the moment with our guy Adams … he won’t be on TOMORROW. Sorry bout that and stay tuned," host Kay Adams said on X, accompanied by an eyes emoji.

Whether Adams canceling his appearance is due to a trade, or his injury rehab with an ongoing hamstring issue, is unknown. However, NFL fans have taken the latest appearance dropout as a sign that a potential trade is on the horizon.

"I sure hope that’s code for him getting on a plane, flying to NY, and signing with the Jets!" one said. "Ooooh now I’m betting he’s being traded tomorrow since he’s missing your show," another added. There are several potential landing spots for Adams across the NFL - but NFL.com claims that a reunion with Aaron Rodgers at the New York Jets is the receiver's preferred destination.

The New Orleans Saints have reportedly been aggressive in their efforts to seal a trade to get Adams out of the Raiders. The Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers are also said to be keeping their ear close to the wall on Adams' situation.

The Bills' main receiver Khalil Shakir took a knock to the ankle and is day-to-day. Shakir has been Josh Allen's main target at receiver following the trade of Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in the offseason. However, the Bills have lost their last two games in a row, with defeats coming against the Baltimore Ravens, and the Texans.

As for the Steelers, the 3-2 team is struggling on offense, especially at receiver, with George Pickens not performing at his best in 2024. Quarterback Justin Fields has been consistent since his trade from the Chicago Bears in the offseason, and Pittsburgh also has Russell Wilson to return from injury following his arrival from the Denver Broncos.

Adams would add a significant weapon to Fields' offense after their 3-0 start fell apart with back-to-back defeats to the Indianapolis Colts, followed by the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. Fields was checked for a concussion during Sunday night's defeat to Dallas and it's likely the former Chicago star will be cleared to play in Week 6.

However, in the event that he isn't cleared, retired NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky has warned against putting in Wilson, who's recovering from an injury himself. "I would say that's the wrong decision [to put Wilson in]," Orlovsky said on ESPN's Get Up. "I would say that Pittsburgh has an offensive problem and it's not the quarterback."

He added: "There's no one getting open that much for this offense. George Pickens is unbelievably talented, but he's not winning that much and they're certainly not getting them the football enough early on in the football games."
