On Wednesday night, Lisa Marie Presley and Elvis Presley' s granddaughter Riley Keough sat down with Oprah Winfrey to speak on her family's historic legacy.

During their discussion, Oprah and Riley, who has been in a long fight to keep Graceland , talked about Elvis, Lisa, and Lisa's posthumous memoir. “I think this is the first time she talked in detail about his death, in the book," Riley told Oprah. "She said goodnight to him, and I think she knew some kind of sense…that he wasn’t okay.

Riley went on to explain that heartbroken Lisa Marie's last tragic final memories of her dad when she was only 9-years-old. Riley said: "She would tell me that sometimes she would find him in his bathroom looking kinda out of it or holding onto the railing to stand up straight and she also wrote these letters when she was little saying I hope my daddy doesn’t die so there was some kind of sense there”

Riley added: “She could sense that something was off." Her mom's memoir, From Here To The Great Unknown, details Lisa Marie's relationship with Elvis, her previous romantic relationships, motherhood and the tragic loss of her son Benjamin Keough. Benjamin died by suicide in July 2020 at age 27. Riley told People that she edited her mother's words for clarity "or to get at what I know was the root of what she was trying to convey." Her main focus was for it to sound like her mother.

Riley and Lisa Marie worked together on Elvis' daughter's memoir before her passing in 2023. Lisa Marie died due to complications from bariatric surgery that she underwent several years ago.  After Lisa Marie's death, Riley continued to work on her late mother's memoir until completion.

"Wherever possible, I wrote it exactly as she said it," Riley explained in the memoir about transcribing tapes of her mother's memories which Lisa Marie kept for her.

"In other cases, I’ve edited my mother’s words for clarity or to get at what I know was the root of what she was trying to convey. What mattered most to me was feeling like the end result sounded like her, that I could instantly recognize her in the pages, and I can," Riley wrote in the excerpt obtained by People. Lisa Marie's memoir was released on October 8.
