Meghan Markle admits she has made 'an active effort' towards forgiving royals amid feud

When Meghan Markle tied the knot with Prince Harry, she was already a well-known figure due to her successful acting career. However, she confessed that she wasn't fully prepared for the intense scrutiny that comes with being a part of the royal family.

She has been open about her struggles with mental health and suicidal thoughts during her time as a working royal. This led to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex realizing they needed to make changes, concluding that being full-time, taxpayer-funded representatives of the crown wasn't suitable for their young family.

Initially, they hoped to continue as part-time working royals, but Queen Elizabeth deemed this model unworkable, leading to a complete break from the House of Windsor. Since then, relations have been tense between the Sussexes and other senior royals, with Meghan and Harry's openness about their struggles within the monarchy and allegations against Queen Camilla and Prince William among others reportedly causing friction.

However, in a comprehensive interview, Meghan spoke about the importance of "forgiveness" and revealed that she had made "an active effort" in this regard towards her in-laws.

In an intimate chat with The Cut magazine back in 2022, while she was championing her podcast Archetypes, Meghan opened up about the power of forgiveness despite her past trials with the royals and her own kin. She eloquently shared "I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive...But it takes a lot of effort to forgive. I've really made an active effort, especially knowing that I can say anything," reports the Mirror .

She further clarified her freedom to express her personal journey, stating "It's interesting, I've never had to sign anything that restricts me from talking...I can talk about my whole experience and make a choice not to," and highlighted her discernment in communication by adding "I have a lot to say until I don't. Do you like that? Sometimes, as they say, the silent part is still part of the song."

In the same revealing interview, Meghan let slip that she had taken the time to close up their UK residence at Frogmore Cottage while over for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, an event that also marked the first birthday of their daughter, Princess Lilibet.
