Meghan Markle's son Archie shares surprising habit with grandpa King Charles - despite never seeing him

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made the decision to establish their home in California, it meant bidding farewell to their old life in the UK. The couple has been candid about their motivations for relocating, with their quest for privacy and normalcy for their two children - Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet - being a significant factor.

As a result, royal enthusiasts only occasionally catch a glimpse of the adorable Sussex children, but they are always delighted to see how the tots are maturing.

While relations with some members of the royal family have been tense in recent years, limiting Harry's time with his relatives, his son Archie shares a major habit with Harry's father - King Charles - and it is tied to the monarch's greatest passion.

For many years, the King has been a committed environmentalist, advocating against plastic pollution and the perils of climate change long before these issues became mainstream. His love for nature has remained a central part of his life and influences many of his habits - including one particular quirk that may seem a bit eccentric to some.

Charles has long been an advocate for speaking to plants, a practice he believes aids their growth. "I happily talk to plants and trees and listen to them," Charles confessed in 2010, when he was the Prince of Wales.

He's also known for his weird tradition of shaking a tree's "hand" - one of its branches - after planting it. This charming ritual seems to have traveled across the pond to King Charles' grandson Archie, reports the Mirror .

In a heartwarming revelation during her interview with The Cut in 2022, Meghan disclosed that little Archie greets a pair of palm trees in the center of their Montecito garden every time he passes by.

The Duchess of Sussex shared the touching backstory: "One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees...See how they're connected at the bottom? He goes, 'My love, it's us.'" This sweet observation has inspired Archie's endearing habit, as Meghan described, "Now every day when Archie goes by us, he says, 'Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.'"
