Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face 'huge dilemma' as Christmas decision looms

As the holiday season approaches, families begin to plan their Christmas festivities - and this could include Prince Harry and Meghan Markle .

Since their dramatic departure from Royal duties , the Sussexes and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet , have celebrated the festive season in the United States. However, with the year-end and Christmas rapidly approaching, there's growing speculation about where they will spend the upcoming holidays.

The Royal Family is expected to head to Sandringham with King Charles for their customary Christmas celebrations, but it's uncertain whether Harry and Meghan will receive an invitation. There are rumors that Harry, who reportedly stayed with his uncle Earl Spencer during a secret visit to the UK for a family funeral, might receive a Christmas invite from him.

However, bringing his wife and children to the UK presents a significant issue for Harry. He previously stated that it was too dangerous to bring them to his homeland as they do not automatically qualify for police protection while in the UK.

Royal author Ingrid Seward told The Sun , revealing: "There's the problem of the security which is still not solved, and Harry says he won't bring his wife and children back here until he feels that he is in a secure position. I do think that Harry and Meghan have a dilemma with their family life, because the children are getting older, and the children are probably absolutely intrigued to know what their cousins are like. They wouldn't remember them.", reports the Mirror .

"And I think that maybe an invitation from Charles Spencer might be attractive, and they would meet other cousins. But then it's going to raise a lot of questions. Is Harry going to see his father? Is he going to see any other members of his family? So I would think at the moment they're undecided. They seem to make a lot of fairly last-minute decisions in their lives."

It has been reported that unless Harry can change the Home Office's verdict that he's not automatically entitled to police protection while in the UK, he's not keen on bringing Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet over.

Harry has been battling the February 2020 decision by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) who decided that he wouldn't get the "same degree" of taxpayer-funded security on British soil.

Harry's legal team previously informed the High Court that he was "singled out" and treated "less favourably" in the decision to alter his taxpayer-funded personal security. They argued that a failure to conduct a risk analysis and fully consider the impact of a "successful attack" on him rendered the approach to his protection "unlawful and unfair".

The court heard that Harry feels his children, Archie and Lilibet, cannot "feel at home" in the UK if their safety cannot be guaranteed there. In a written statement from a previous hearing, Harry expressed: "It was with great sadness for both of us that my wife and I felt forced to step back from this role and leave the country in 2020. The UK is my home."

"The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home, as much as where they live at the moment in the United States. That cannot happen if it's not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil. I cannot put my wife in danger like that and, given my experiences in life, I am reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm's way too."

In a ruling issued in February, retired High Court judge Sir Peter Lane dismissed the duke's claim that he was "singled out" and treated "less favorably" by the decision, concluding that Ravec's approach was neither irrational nor procedurally unfair. Harry has declared his intention to appeal the decision.
