Tom Brady finds FOX loophole as Las Vegas Raiders ownership hit with restrictions

Tom Brady is expected to be approved as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders - though if that were to happen, his abilities as a commentator for FOX Sports would be limited .

However, there is a loophole available to Brady that could circumvent those limitations. As the newest minority owner of the Raiders , Brady would not be able to enter another team’s facility, he would be unable to watch practice and he would not be allowed to attend production meetings. Typically, the production meetings are where analysts get the information needed for that particular game.

That said, while Brady himself is not allowed to attend production meetings, his entire production team is allowed to attend said meetings. In essence, this gives Brady another avenue to obtain information , despite being barred from the initial meeting.

Brady also will not be allowed to criticize the officials once he formally becomes an owner of the Raiders. As it stands, the NFL’s finance committee reviewed Brady’s bid and it will more than likely be approved, according to ESPN .

Typically, the committee often does not bring bids to the owners if they feel it would not get approved. As such, the 47-year-old is expected to be approved, adding to another almost unanimous recommendation.

Once the deal is finalized, Brady would own roughly 10 percent of the franchise. When the deal was first announced, Raiders owner Mark Davis explained how excited he was to have someone of Brady’s stature be a part of the ownership group.

“We’re excited for Tom to join the Raiders,” Davis said at the time. “And it’s exciting because he will be just the third player in the history of the National Football League to become an owner.”

It remains to be seen how this will affect the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s ability to call a game, especially as his deal for the Raiders becomes finalized. However, it appeared as if Brady has had a very up-and-down experience in the booth thus far.

Fans on social media have gone as far as to call his commentary “weird”. Former Super Bowl champion Mitchell Scwartz also took to X to explain how he feels Brady has not brought anything new to the booth.

“He’s brought nothing to the booth that any other former player or color guy wouldn’t/hasn’t,” Schwartz wrote. “The whole point is he’s Tom Brady his mind is supposed to be different than anyone else. Plus he’s slow to comment during play.”

Along with Schwartz, former FOX Sports pundit Skip Bayless criticized Brady for his lack of originality and his lack of meaningful insight. During the San Francisco 49ers’ matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, Bayless took to X to share how bland Brady has been in the booth. “I've been listening to 49ers-Cardinals commentary by Capt. Obvious... who just talks and talks more and more obvious,” Bayless said.
