Cooper Manning went viral after wearing a massive cowboy hat to Saturday’s Red River Rivalry, one that was described as a "big --- hat" by ESPN/ABC commentator Kirk Herbstreit .

Although Arch Manning wasn't starting for Texas , his father was still in attendance to watch the team beat Oklahoma 34-3 on Saturday. It didn't take long for the camera crews to spot Cooper, as the size of his hat made him stand out in the crowd.

Herbstreit couldn't help himself and was heard reacting to the "big --- hat" during the live broadcast. Cooper was then mocked by fellow commentator Chris Fowler, who said: "He told me he keeps a low profile and he's wearing a 100-gallon hat."

Fans were loving Cooper's choice of accessory, with one supporter writing on X: "Cooper Manning came appropriately covered." Another added: "Cooper Manning with the biggest hat in the history of hats."

While Manning's hat was the talking point off the field, the Longhorns made a major statement after initially trailing the Sooners at The Cotton Bowl. Oklahoma scored the only points in the first quarter after kicker Tyler Keltner converted a field goal from 42 yards.

Texas responded with three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 21-3 lead into the half. Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers found tight end Gunnar Helm for a seven-yard score before the rushing game took center stage. Silas Bolden then scored his first touchdown of the season before Quintrevion Wisner stunned the Sooners with a 43-yard touchdown run.

Bert Auburn then kicked two field goals for Texas before Ewers rushed from the one-yard line for the final touchdown of the day. In sealing victory, the Longhorns reclaimed the Golden Hat back from Oklahoma, and while wearing it Ewers said: "We didn't have it for a year. Feels good to finally have it back. Couldn't be more proud of the guys and all the hard work we put in."

Despite the dominant performance by the No. 1 Longhorns who improved to 6-0, Herbstreit still defended No. 18 Oklahoma as the game entered the fourth quarter. The Sooners are now 4-2 on the season with their only other defeat falling against No. 8 Tennessee.

Injuries have impacted the offense this season, and Herbstreit didn't believe that Saturday's defeat ruled Oklahoma out as a top college football team. "Should say this to defend Oklahoma," Herbstreit said during the fourth quarter. "What they’ve been dealing with, everybody is going to look at this score and say ‘Oklahoma and the SEC? Come on.’ No, no, no. Oklahoma’s defense, healthy, is ready for the SEC.

"Oklahoma’s offense, with their top five receivers, the offensive line has been in disarray with injuries, going to a true freshman quarterback — their margin of error is so small."

The Sooners made the decision ahead of Saturday to bench starting quarterback Jackson Arnold for true freshman Michael Hawkins Jr, who was 19-for-30 and 148 yards.
