Tom Brady gets giddy live on FOX at thought of becoming team's quarterback

NFL legend Tom Brady has admitted that he'd "love to be the quarterback of this offense" when praising the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Brady was in the FOX Sports booth on Sunday for the clash of the weekend between the Lions and the Dallas Cowboys , although Detroit didn't follow the script as fans were expecting a close game. The Lions handed the Cowboys their biggest home loss since 1988, after winning 47-9 at AT&T Stadium.

It was also the largest loss Dallas has suffered in any stadium since 2010 and leaves them 3-3 for the season. The Lions improved to 4-1, with their only loss on the year falling in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers .

Lions quarterback Jared Goff went 18-for-25 with 315 yards and three touchdowns, while Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott struggled, throwing no touchdowns and two interceptions. Prescott was also 17-for-33 and 178 yards, on a brutal day for the highest-paid player in the NFL .

The Lions have become a force to be reckoned with under head coach Dan Campbell, and the team is looking to go one better after reaching the NFC Championship game last season. The Lions ended a 30-year wait for a playoff win and fell one win short of meeting the Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas at Super Bowl LVIII.

A return to the Super Bowl remains the goal for the Cowboys, as America's Team hasn't won a championship since 1995. Based on their recent performances at home, Dallas will need to vastly improve to stand a chance of making it all the way.

Per ESPN Research, the Cowboys have allowed 167 points in their last four home games, including the regular season and playoffs. That is the third-most over a four-game span at home in NFL history.

The Cowboys have so many weapons on offense, with CeeDee Lamb being considered one of the top wide receivers in the league. However, Brady believes that their failure to efficiently run the ball is holding them back this season. "The number one issue is their ability to run the football," said Brady.

"I said earlier in the show, maybe the best way to do it is throw the ball early and then open the run game up because you've done a good job spreading the field and now they're going to play pass defense. I think they're trying to start these games trying to be balanced.

"But the problem is when they're balanced they're not producing the run game, a quarter or a half into the game, they're down 14 (or) they're down 17 - and now they are one dimensional. And the other team has made them one-dimensional. I would like to see them start the game a little more pass-happy, a little more pass-orientated, try to gain a lead."

Brady continued: "They've got a lot of things they need to fix offensively from what I've seen. Offensively, running the ball and getting other guys involved other than CeeDee Lamb that can make some plays."

The Cowboys franchise-tagged running back Tony Pollard last season and opted to release him and promote Rico Dowdle to starter. Pollard signed a three-year contract with the Tennessee Titans and has 339 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Dallas then signed former running back and veteran Ezekiel Elliott as a backup, after initially letting him go after the 2022 season. Elliott spent one year with the New England Patriots before signing a one-year deal to return to the Cowboys.
