The Charlotte Motor Speedway was a hotbed of thrilling and nail-biting moments as the NASCAR playoffs were whittled down to eight drivers following the final Round of 12 race in the Roval 400, with 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick and his boss, Denny Hamlin , clashing on-track.

The two drivers found themselves in a precarious situation as they battled for position. Hamlin, who drives for Joe Gibbs Racing and is also a co-owner of Reddick's 23XI Racing car alongside basketball legend Michael Jordan , ended up on the receiving end of a collision. As they approached a left turn, Reddick tried to maneuver his No. 45 car down the inside after breaking from the pack.

However, the regular season champion couldn't slow down in time and ended up sliding into Hamlin's side as they rounded the bend. The impact sent Reddick's rear tires flying before both cars had to dodge Austin Dillon's spun-out vehicle, with Hamlin getting hit from behind again.

Reddick came to a halt behind Dillon's car as the rest of the drivers scrambled around the stalled No. 3. Despite the heavy contact, both cars managed to avoid serious damage and recorded finishes that allowed them to continue their off-season journey. Hamlin held onto a strong position to secure a 14th-place finish.

Reddick had to fight his way back into the playoffs with an 11th- place finish, even after winning Stage 1. Despite their collision, Hamlin was focused on the result, congratulating his driver after the race.

A video shared by NBC Sports reporter Dustin Long showed Hamlin approaching Reddick in the pit stalls, putting his arm around him and appearing to congratulate him as they exchanged words. NBA legend and fellow 23XI Racing co-owner Jordan soon joined them, shaking hands with Reddick and then embracing Hamlin as the trio happily chatted.

The atmosphere could have been very different if the contact between the two drivers had ended either of their races. Speaking to FOX Sports post-race, Hamlin described the damage, revealing that the toe link on both cars had bent.

"It hurt the car, it knocked some out of alignment in the rear," he said. "My steering wheel went from being straight to at 3 o'clock. It certainly had a detrimental outcome to my car but certainly, Chris did a great job with his adjustments to compensate for the handling that bent toelink did. Just great job by the team, we survived and now we can race."

Despite being in P35 after the crash, Reddick managed to recover. He shared his version of the events saying, "I think I was behind the No. 19 [Martin Truex Jr.] just trying to work the move to the inside."

"I got clear of him - I saw the No. 3 [Dillon] spun and everybody was on the binders coming to a stop. Of course, me and my boss [Hamlin] get together. Felt like I was gonna do a front flip - this thing was absolutely destroyed."
