Some could thank Scooter Braun for signing Justin Bieber , but many forget who took him under his wing at a young age .

As Usher Raymond IV turns 46-years-old on October 14, let's take a look back at his mentor relationship with the Canadian pop star. Many can even thank Usher for being the man who showed Justin how to handle the fame . The world was introduced to the dynamic duo in Justin's music video for his debut song, One Time. In the clip, Justin gets a call from Usher, who asks him to watch the house . Justin then ends up throwing a party after hanging up the phone.

The Baby singer released his first concert film, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, in 2011, giving his fans, Beliebers, and the rest of the world, not only a chance to see him perform on stage, but also a glimpse of his personal life before Hollywood.

Before Justin became the prince of pop, he posted videos on YouTube of himself singing covers. The video of him crooning Usher's You Got It Bad to the singer himself caught the attention of many. In 2008, Usher was on his way to a meeting when Justin walked up to him at Jermaine Dupri's recording studio and wanted to sing for him. Usher asked for him to set up a meeting between him and Scooter so they could talk business right way.

Usher revealed on The Howard Stern Show that Justin "auditioned" in front of not only him, but his wife at the time, Tameka Foster, as well as record producer L.A. Reid's first wife, Perri "Pebbles" Reid. According to Usher, he showed them a video of Justin singing and Perri insisted for the Yeah! crooner to meet Justin. She called Justin "amazing."

In the Never Say Never film, Usher shared that he had told Justin to "stay grounded" and to enjoy his youth. He emphasized on the importance of maintaining a personal life while adjusting to the fame. Usher always pushed Justin to be the best version of himself.

Usher's mentorship turned into a friendship. The two have collaborated in projects and performed together. Many Beliebers were upset earlier this year when Usher did not bring out Justin to perform during his Super Bowl halftime performance. The Confessions singer was also a guest at Justin and Hailey Bieber's wedding, where he was also seen performing one of his hits, Bad Girl.
