Luckiest lottery numbers REVEALED and states overdue a major win after bombshell study

As the jackpot continues going up history can help determine a few key factors to winning the big prize .

The jackpot for Monday's Powerball drawing has risen to an estimated $388 million after there were no lucky winners on Saturday. The next drawing is scheduled for Monday.

A study from Lucky.me collected lottery data dating back to 1997 from both the Powerball and Mega Millions lottery and analyzed the numbers most commonly drawn and which states have won the jackpot the most and least in the past decade. The study determined that the Mega Millions lottery numbers Americans have won big on most often include 9, 39, 4, 18, and 46.

It also found that the Powerball lottery numbers Americans have won big on most often include 10, 11, 17, 9, and 13. There are also some numbers that are long overdue for a big win.

The Mega Millions lottery numbers most overdue for a big win are 49, 51, 65, 23, and 36, while the Powerball lottery numbers most overdue for a big win include 60, 65, 66, 67, and 68.

Location also plays a big part in winning- for example in the past 10 years, residents in 11 states and Washington, D.C. have yet to win. The state most overdue for a big win is Kentucky, where the last time someone won the lottery was on December 11, 2010.

Next up is Oklahoma, who hasn't had a lucky winner since as November 21, 2009. On the flip side are the states of New Hampshire, Vermont, and New Jersey, whose residents have won the most lottery jackpots per capita in the past decade.

Rhode Island and Maine have had the most luck per capita with the Mega Millions lottery, and Vermont and New Hampshire residents have won the most Powerball jackpots per capita in the past 10 years, according to the study.

Mega Millions recently announced that ticket prices will more than double next year as a part of a revamp of the game. Starting in April 2025 the price of a ticket will increase from $2 to $5. Other changes being implemented in the spring include no breakeven prizes.

There will also be a 10x multiplier - randomised and embedded for every play, meaning prizes will go up. The new play means just matching the Mega ball wins at least $10 with a 2x multiplier - and up to up to $50 with a 10X multiplier.
