Tom Brady released his first statement as the newest member of the Las Vegas Raiders’ ownership, just as Mark Davis spoke about the team’s need for a new quarterback.

On Tuesday, it was formally announced that the NFL’s owners approved Brady’s bid for a minority stake in the Raiders, 17 months after Davis - the team’s controlling owner - shared that the seven-time Super Bowl champion was joining the organization. As a result of the deal being finalized, Brady officially is unable to play in the NFL again, formally ending his illustrious career.

Speaking to reporters after the news was announced, Davis spoke of how Brady’s addition will give the organization an infusion of energy , especially after the Raiders traded star wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets earlier in the day .

“It’s an exciting time for the Raiders organization,” Davis said, per Albert Breer. “It’s an exciting day for all three of those gentlemen and I’m looking forward to what they can bring to the organization in the future.”

When asked in what capacity Brady will be involved in team matters, Davis admitted that they two have not discussed that and will wait for the right time to determine such matters. “We wanted to get to this point first before we started defining anything of that nature and all that,” the 69-year-old said.

“But it’s just exciting. We traded Davante Adams for Tom Brady and a third-round pick. And although Tom can’t play, he can help us select a quarterback of the future and potentially trade him as well. So it’s a huge benefit having him in the organization.”

It appears as if Brady is on the same page with Davis, based on his first statement as an official owner of the Raiders. Captioned “Committed to Excellence,” Brady shared his gratitude for being able to be part of the Raiders organization.

“I'm incredibly humbled and excited to have been unanimously approved as an owner of the Las Vegas Raiders,” his statement began. “Throughout my NFL career, I've learned that at its core, football is a game of teamwork, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. The Raiders franchise, and the city of Las Vegas embody these same values, and I'm honored to become part of that story.

“Football has been part of my entire life growing up in the Bay Area and in so many ways, my football life and journey has come full circle. I love the sport, I love my teammates, coaches, and the fans in every organization I've been part of. Sports brings us together in a way nothing else can. I grew up on the field, and it's a blessing to know I'll be involved in the greatest league in the world for the rest of my life.

“I'm eager to contribute to the organization in any way I can, honoring the Raiders' rich tradition while finding every possible opportunity to improve our offering to fans... and most importantly, WIN football games. #JustWinBaby #LFG.”

With Brady in tow, the Raiders will have another mind to help them figure out how to turn their 2024 season around. Sitting at 2-4, Las Vegas does not seem to have a specific direction, especially after trading away Adams. For now, the Raiders will have to hope bringing Brady will yield some good fortune for the organization.
