Princess Charlotte's heartbreaking dream of 'ordinary' job despite Royal Family commitments

Princess Charlotte may be a young royal, but she's already dreaming of a very different path in life.

The nurturing and caring nature of Prince William and Kate Middleton's daughter shines through at public events, where she often takes on the role of looking out for her brothers . It's these qualities that align with her "dream job".

Reports suggest that Princess Charlotte aspires to be a nurse, inspired by conversations with her father about the vital work NHS staff perform. A source said: "She's obviously just a little kid but still, Will and Kate swelled with pride."

The source said Kate and William aren't surprised by Charlotte's aspirations. "She's such a caring little girl who also knows what she wants, so they wouldn't be surprised if she does take on nursing as one of her big causes when she's older," they told New Idea .

Charlotte isn't alone in her ambitions beyond the palace walls. Back in 2018, Prince George had his own career aspirations. During a reception at Kensington Palace to celebrate Scotland Yard, Police Commissioner Jayne Richardson reminisced about her chat with William, mentioning: "We're only based just down the road in Kensington and I said to him 'Perhaps Prince George and Princess Charlotte could join the police cadets'."

William then shared a glimpse into George's dreams as he said: "[George] is obsessed, actually, by the police... cars, toys, everything."

It wasn't the first time that William had shared George's fascination with the police force. At the end of 2017, he hand-delivered a letter to Santa Claus on behalf of his young son while on a walkabout in Helsinki, Finland.

George had asked for just one gift on his Christmas list – a police car. "I've seen you and I had to give you this letter," William said at the time. "He hasn't written down many requests, so I think one request is probably OK."

Interestingly, William also had aspirations of being a policeman when he was a young boy. Princess Diana's biographer Andrew Morton revealed in his book: "William and Harry were aware of their destiny. On one occasion the boys were discussing their futures with Diana. 'When I grow up I want to be a policeman and look after you Mummy,' said William.

"Quick as a flash Harry replied, with a note of triumph in his voice, 'Oh no you can't, you've got to be king'." Prince Louis, meanwhile, also has a dream job in mind - and it also links back to his father.

The Wales family took part in a day of volunteering for The Big Help Out during the coronation weekend in 2023, with Louis very enthusiastic about the painting. However, when a volunteer asked if he might want to be a painter when he grows up, Louis apparently replied, "No, a fighter pilot!"

His answer might not come as a huge surprise given how many qualified pilots there are in his family. His dad once worked as a search and rescue pilot after earning his wings with the RAF. Meanwhile, King Charles has notched up time in both the RAF and the Royal Navy.
