Liam Payne battled a number of health conditions over the last few years - many of which led to cancelled gigs as those around him appeared to become increasingly concerned.

The 31-year-old star had been hospitalized on occasion, with posts to fans explaining how poor health had gotten in the way of his performing. In September last year, he was hospitalized due to a severe kidney infection while on vacation in Italy. This medical emergency led to the cancellation of his Latin-American tour. This included his highly anticipated performance at the Town Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil .

At the time Liam took to social media to express his regret for having to cancel his shows, apologizing to his fans. Liam expressed gratitude for the support and promised to reschedule the performances once he was fully recovered.

However, his condition seemed to be more severe than initially reported, with his health declining significantly in the months that followed. Friends and family were ‘worried sick’, with Liam’s mom saying she felt ‘helpless’ as he received treatment in another country.

The star was vacationing in Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo and local reports indicate that he fell off the third floor of his hotel. It is unknown at this time if the death was a suicide or unintentional as authorities continue to investigate. Witnesses told TMZ that Liam was acting erratically before his death, smashing his laptop. He reportedly was carried from his hotel back to his room. Photos were obtained by the publication of his body against a wooden deck where his identifiable tattoos were clearly shown.

Recently, Liam faced extreme criticism and backlash after his ex-girlfriend, Maya Henry, began to open up with allegations of mistreatment in their relationship. Lawyers told the DailyMail that Maya was preparing to take legal action against him. They said: "Maya Henry issued a cease and desist last week to Liam Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information. She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter."

On TikTok, Maya said: "Ever since we broke up he messages me, will blow up my phone, not only from his phone, it's always from different phone numbers too, so I never know where it's gonna come from. He'll create new iCloud accounts to message me - it's always a new damn iCloud account. Every time I see one pop up on my phone I'm like, 'here we f---ing go again.'

"Also, he will email me... not only me, but he'll blow up my mom's phone. Is this normal behavior to you?"

She also accused Liam of preying on One Direction fans, highlighting his incessant usage of monetized Snapchat posts "because they're loyal to him." Moreover, in a TikTok comment, Maya claimed that he spoke poorly of his bandmates behind their backs, despite showing public support and attending their performances.
