    Mitzi Gaynor dies aged 93 as South Pacific and Dynamo star mourned by Broadway community

    Movie-musical legend Mitzi Gaynor, well-known for her iconic role in the Broadway play South Pacific, died at the age of 93 years old due to natural causes.

    On Thursday, October 17, Mitzi's fans paid tribute to the beloved Broadway star after the news of her passing was announced. Mitzi was a singer, dancer, and actress famously known for her movie roles throughout the 1950's. Some of her most famed roles included her appearances in We're Not Married!, There's No Business Like Show Business, The Birds and the Bees, and South Pacific.

    Rene Reyes and Shane Rosamonda of Gaynor’s MGMT team confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement on X, formerly Twitter , as they shared a heartfelt message in memory of Mitzi. In the post, they penned to fans: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved friend and client Mitzi Gaynor. She passed away peacefully today of natural causes at the age of 93."

    The post continued: "For eight decades she entertained audiences in films, on television and on the stage. She truly enjoyed every moment of her professional career and the great privilege of being an entertainer," and added: "Off stage, she was a vibrant and extraordinary woman, a caring and loyal friend, and a warm, gracious, and very funny and altogether glorious human being. And she could cook, too!"

    In the post, they went on to thank Mitzi's friends and fans for their ongoing "love, support, and appreciation" and shared that Mitzi often lovingly referred her fanbase as the "sunshine of my life." The heartfelt post went on to urge fans to keep her spirit and legacy alive through her "many magical performances" that have been captured through recordings and videos over the years.

    After the news devastating news broke, fans took to the comments of the post sharing an outpour of love and admiration for the star. One fan wrote: "She was an icon! So talented, beautiful, funny, kind and full of life! May she rest in peace!" And another added: "So thankful for all the great work she left us. A beautiful legend and a hell of a woman!" While a third fan sweetly chimed in: "She was one of the all-time greats, and will be sorely missed."
