Niall Horan reflected on being the last member of One Direction to see Liam Payne alive after his tragic death.

Liam tragically fell from his third floor hotel room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Argentina. During his time in Argentina, he s aw his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan's concert . Liam spent the night dancing to Niall's music with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy. Then, when he went backstage to see Niall, the two took a sweet selfie during their reunion.

However, now that Liam passed away just days after the reunion, Niall has reflected on a harrowing detail that has turned that moment into something "heartbreaking" for him.

While he felt "fortunate" about this detail, it haunts him that he didn't know it would be the last time he would see him. In his Instagram tribute: Niall wrote: "I feel so fortunate that I got to see him recently. I sadly didn't know that after saying goodbye and hugging him that evening, I would be saying goodbye forever. It's heartbreaking."

In his tribute, he also honored Liam's "infectious" passion and energy and his takeaway from performing alongside Liam.

He wrote: "I'm absolutely devastated about the passing of my amazing friend, Liam. It just doesn't feel real. Liam had an energy for life and a passion for work that was infectious. He was the brightest in every room and always made everyone feel happy and secure."

"All the laughs we had over the years, sometimes about the simplest of things, keep coming to mind through the sadness. We got to live out our wildest dreams together and I will cherish every moment we had forever," he continued.

"The bond and friendship we had doesn't happen often in a lifetime. I feel so fortunate that I got to see him recently. I sadly didn't know that after saying goodbye and hugging him that evening, I would be saying goodbye forever. It's heartbreaking. My love and condolences go out to Geoff, Karen, Ruth, Nicola and of course his son Bear. That you for everything, Payno. Love you brother. Nialler," he concluded.

Niall is the last of the four remaining One Direction members to pay tribute to their late band member. The band released a joint statement Thursday evening and shortly after, individual tributes came from Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles.
