A Maryland mom of two was tragically shot dead by a man who reportedly fled the scene in his car only to shoot himself in the head once he was cornered by police.

Authorities said they found 25-year-old Alasia Janell Milburn gravely wounded at a home in the 46000 block of Rosewood Drive in Lexington park shortly before 11 a.m. She was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound , prompting authorities to quickly transport her to MedStar St. Mary's Hospital where she tragically succumbed to her wounds.

Police also removed a seventh-month-old infant from the scene when they arrived. Shooter Kenneth Louis Price, 38 of Washington DC, who witnesses said quickly jumped into a red Hyundai Kona and sped from the scene soon after the shooting, was located speeding up Route 5.

Several more cop cars joined the chase once Price sped into Charles County. Eventually more deputies from the Charles and Calvert County Sheriff's Offices and the Maryland State Police began pursuing price.

Price evaded police until an official from Calvert County rammed the shooter's vehicle near the 15000 block of Prince Frederick Road in Hughesville. The car was totaled, leaving the shooter cornered. He briefly exited his vehicle and then quickly ducked back into the vehicle. Law enforcement officials said they heard a single gunshot ring out seconds later.

He was found near-death, suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby medical center but died just before 1 p.m. The Calvert County deputy was also transported to a local hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff Steve Hall of St. Mary County said, “We mourn the loss of this young mother, and we hold her family in prayer. Today’s tragic set of circumstances brings light to the need to continue efforts on all fronts to prevent violence in domestic relationships. We are grateful no one else was injured during the vehicle pursuit. The professionalism displayed by officers of the tri-county and the teamwork between our three counties was on full display, and the work was exemplary.”

A GoFundMe was launched to help her family bury their loved one. They write: "It saddens me to have to announce the sudden passing of my 25-year-old daughter, Alasia Janel Milburn, who was killed on October 16, 2024, as a result of domestic violence. She is a beloved daughter and mother of 2 young children. Unfortunately, we need help with burial expenses; she had no life insurance."
