Deion Sanders shows true self with Barack Obama dig after Colorado's win over Arizona

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has a bone to pick with Barack Obama after the 44th President of the United States took an unsubtle dig at the Buffaloes roster .

On Friday, Obama joined Vice President Kamala Harris at a campaign rally in Tucson, where he thanked the crowd in attendance for coming out just one day before the University of Arizona’s homecoming. “As we landed, we saw Colorado’s busses at the airport,” he began, prompting a chorus of boos.

“Colorado’s got a couple of good players,” Obama added. “I also know you guys have beaten them twice in a row. Don’t bet against the Wildcats tomorrow.”

It appeared as though Colorado took Obama’s comments to heart as the Buffaloes made quick work of the Wildcats despite underwhelming contributions from two of their best players - quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter . The signal-caller turned in an up-and-down performance, completing 23-of-33 passes for 250 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Hunter, meanwhile, was benched in the second half of the contest as a precautionary measure after reaggravating his right shoulder injury. In relief of the 21-year-old, wide receiver LaJohntay Wester carried the heavy load on offense - reeling in eight catches for 127 yards.

As for Colorado’s defense, Samuel Okunlola and Keaten Wade led the charge with two sacks apiece while the unit as a whole forced three turnovers - two fumble recoveries and an interception.

On the heels of the Buffaloes’ 34-7 win, Sanders playfully took aim at Obama and his remarks that clearly didn’t age well. “President Obama is everything to me,” he began. “I mean, I love him, I admire him. I respect him tremendously. But I heard what he said, you know?

“President, I heard what you said, man,” Sanders added with a wide grin. “Like c’mon, c’mon.

“That’s why I really don’t get into politics. I’m into people. Because politicians, they play the political game, and he was here and had to play the political games that they have two good players. We got more than two good players. But then you’re here [in Tucson], so you have to support that.”

Sanders did commend Obama for seemingly doing his research, noting: “Somebody gave him some great statistics.” Despite taking a jab at his program, the 57-year-old asserted that there was no bad blood between him and the former President.

“President, c’mon man,” Sanders concluded. “You, my man. I love you, I appreciate you, but c’mon dawg. God bless you. I still love you.”

The Buffaloes will look to build upon their strong start to the season and improve to 6-2 when they return home next week to face off against Cincinnati at Folsom Field. Sanders was more than pleased by what he saw from his team on Saturday, telling reporters after the game: “Wonderful game. Wonderful victory.

”Offense and defense collectively both units played great and there were some highlights.”
