    Beer, wine and food fundraiser coming to Modesto. See where and when to enjoy

    Hops & Vines returns, a fundraiser for Community Hospice & Health Services Foundation, featuring brews, wine and foods. The State Theatre also has a pair of tribute acts planned. They are among the entertainment options set for Aug. 17-23 in the Modesto region.

    Hops & Vines

    Community Hospice & Health Services Foundation presents its Hops & Vines fundraising event to benefit its patients, families and programs. There will be brewed ales and wines from Contentment Brewing Co., Dust Bowl Brewing Co., Dying Breed Brewing, E.&J. Gallo Winery, Last Call Brewing, Persuasion Brewing Co., The Wine Group and Track 424 Brewery. Food will be offered by Chuck’s Butcher Shop, Conchitas, Crumbl Cookies, Fiscalini Cheese Co., Save Mart and Sciabica Olive Oil. There will be ax throwing, cornhole and more. Must be 21 or older to attend.

    Toby Keith tribute

    TOBY, a tribute to country music star Toby Keith, comes to the State Theatre. Hollywood Yates sings the late singer’s hits, including “How Do You Like Me Now,” “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” and “I Love This Bar.”

    Modesto Film Society

    The Modesto Film Society will screen the film “Lincoln,” starring Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role, at the State Theatre. Day-Lewis won an Academy Award for best actor for the film. Thomas Katsis will appear as Abraham Lincoln at the event. He will greet patrons, be available for photo opportunities and answer questions.

    Piano men

    “Piano Men: Generations” celebrates Billy Joel and Elton John at the State Theatre. The show features father-son duo Terry and Nick Davies and their band. “They will guide you through the timeless hits that have captured music lovers’ hearts for decades,” the theater’s website says.
