    Alanis and Prop. 36

Retail theft and housing are issues in state Assembly race in Stanislaus County ,” (modbee.com, Feb. 13)

As a lifelong resident of Modesto, I know two things that will have my vote this election year: Proposition 36 and Assemblyman Juan Alanis.

Alanis has been talking about the need to make changes to Proposition 47 since the first time he ran, and now he is getting behind a movement that will make our community safer to live in.

We are lucky to have purchased a home before the pandemic. There is no chance that we would be able to afford a home with today’s prices and interest rates, even with the equity we have already built. No one can deny that costs and crime are out of control. We need to support what will protect our community and those who will fight for it.

    Alanis’ dedication

I am writing to commend Asm. Juan Alanis for his proactive efforts to address affordability concerns in California. Alanis has been a strong advocate for suspending the gas tax to provide immediate financial relief to Californians burdened by rising fuel prices. This measure reflects his commitment to making everyday expenses more manageable for families across the state.

Additionally, his support for bills like Assembly Bill 1817, which focuses on preventing and addressing youth homelessness, demonstrates a deep understanding of the diverse needs of our community. Alanis’ dedication to creating meaningful, long-term solutions is making a significant difference in our district.

    Reject Trump

Trump, Harris brawl over inflation, immigration, abortion at presidential debate ,” (modbee.com, Sept. 10)

There are significant differences between the two presidential candidates, but there are indisputable reasons why Donald Trump should be disqualified. Namely, that he is a perpetual liar. These lies have had disastrous and lethal consequences. On Sept. 4, Trump admitted that he lost the 2020 election. This means one of his many lies was the Big Lie that caused the disgraceful debacle of January 6, 2021.

Trump needs to be held accountable for his anti-American, criminal actions that caused multiple prison sentences and deaths. Meanwhile, he continues to lie about climate change, which kills thousands in our country from heat, floods and fires. Instead of combating climate change, Trump will make it worse.

Trump flip flops with his lies on abortion policies, but his actions clearly demonstrate that he will seek a national ban if elected.

Recently, on Sept. 5, four more beautiful people were needlessly murdered in another school shooting. Trump’s solution is to “get over it.” Democrats, by comparison, want to stop school shootings by passing common-sense gun laws and banning assault weapons.

Found guilty of fraud and sexual abuse, Trump also chooses corrupt and incompetent associates like J.D. Vance. It is indisputable that Trump needs to be rejected so the Republican party can be rehabilitated.

Trump and Vance are just plain weird

Trump, Harris brawl over inflation, immigration, abortion at presidential debate ,” (modbee.com, Sept. 10)

No matter how one feels about Donald Trump, here’s an inescapable fact: He’s an obese, elderly, angry guy, and I question whether he would survive another term. That makes his selection of a running mate really troublesome.

Trump is bad enough, but J.D. Vance isn’t just weird, he’s scary. Can you imagine what the Supreme Court would look like with another four — or eight — years of Trump/Vance nominations?

in order to be fair and balanced opinions should have both pro and against Trump opinions, or opinions against both candidates. It is this kind of selected posting makes legacy media lose their credibility.
