    Stained toilet and a moldy ice machine: See latest Stanislaus County health inspections

    A stained toilet bowl in a Hughson market and a moldy ice machine in a Modesto event hall were among the violations observed during health inspections in early September.

    The majority of the 2,400 permitted food service establishments in the county receive two unannounced routine food safety inspections per year, according to the Department of Environmental Resources . The website says inspection reports are scanned weekly.

    Food trucks that operate under a Stanislaus County Health Department permit also are inspected by the county, though those are scheduled and done at the department’s office.

    Of the 35 restaurant inspection reports sent to The Modesto Bee on Thursday, three were not updated on the site as of Thursday afternoon.

    Violations were found during routine inspections of the following Stanislaus County food facilities during the week of Sept. 2-8. Only the dates of violations are listed.

    The details of the reports do not indicate whether a restaurant passed or failed inspection. Corrective actions may have been made by the business by the time of publication.

    Gas and Market , 2241 Yosemite Blvd. in Modesto, had all six previous violations from Aug. 27 remaining during a reinspection Sept. 3. One of the violations was major. There was no verification of hot water at the three-compartment sink. The sink’s wastewater conduit was leaking wastewater. The janitorial sink cold-water valve was turned off. The ice machine room was cluttered and the ice scoop was placed on plastic bags. The dispenser in the bathroom lacked toilet paper.

    Five of the six violations were noted as corrected during a reinspection Sept. 16. One new violation was observed: The bathroom ceiling light fixture had exposed electrical wiring.

    Save More Market , 7128 Hughson Ave. in Hughson, had four violations Sept. 3. The beer walk-in refrigerator floor had dirt, debris and stain accumulation. The bottom shelf of the beverage refrigerator had a large buildup of rust and condensation. The bathroom toilet bowl had stain residue buildup, and the bathroom soap and paper towel dispensers were empty.

    Two violations remained during a reinspection Sept. 10.

    Diamond Gas and Mart , 3401 Yosemite Blvd. in Modesto, had four violations Sept. 4. The backroom floor area had syrup stain accumulation below the syrup box rack. The floor sink was heavily stained. The water pressure at the hand-washing sink was low. The manager’s food safety certification had expired.

    Grand L’amour , 201 Maze Blvd. in Modesto, had three violations Sept. 5. There was some mold buildup in the ice machine. Base coving was lacking along the wall in the men’s bathroom. The food safety certificate was lacking.
