    See what you can do for free at the Gallo Center in Modesto. When to join the fun

    The Gallo Center’s Family Fun Festival returns with a host of free events outside the venue. There also are comedy and music to be found in the Modesto region Sept. 28-Oct. 4.

    Family Fun Festival

    The Gallo Center for the Arts’ second Family Fun Festival for the community promises music, dancing, chalk art, lawn games, exotic reptiles, face painting, balloon animals and prize giveaways. Food trucks will be onsite. There will be a free performance of “23 Skidoo & the Secret Agency” at 4 p.m. Limited tickets will be available for the show during the festival.

    Comedian Henry Cho brings his “From Here to There Tour 2024” to the Gallo Center for the Arts. Cho, who is making a return to the downtown Modesto venue, performs clean, Christian-friendly comedy. Limited tickets were available.

    We Own The Laughs

    We Own The Laughs: Modesto is back at the State Theatre. The lineup features performances by Tyson Paul, Shaman Johal and Glory Magaña, with Key Lewis as the evening’s headliner. Only for age 18 and older.

    Ukrainian folk group

    Congregation Beth Shalom welcomes Ukrainian folk group Kommuna Lux for a concert. The performance of bohemian Odesa folk music is a fundraiser for humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. Since the start of its 2024 tour in July, Kommuna Lux has raised $11,000 in donations, according to a press release.

    Three Dog Night

    Three Dog Night is set to rock Turlock Community Theatre with its classic hits. The band is known for songs such as “Mama Told Me (Not To Come),” “Joy to the World,” “Black and White,” “Shambala” and “One.”
