Another full slate of exciting Stanislaus District high school football took center stage Friday night.

VOL, TVL, WAC and MLL teams all played league games, looking for wins that they hope will go a long way towards a top playoff seed. Patterson earned its first VOL win in a shootout, Sonora won its TVL matchup in a battle of unbeaten teams and Waterford earned a win in the Southern League.

Ripon and Modesto faced off in a non-league game and Enochs took on Merced in its final non-league tuneup before CCAL play begins next week.

Patterson 53, East Union 50: Patterson led 22-7 after the first quarter, 43-22 at halftime and 46-28 but the Lancers stormed back in the fourth quarter. Patterson threw passing touchdowns of 46, 45, 33 and 15 yards, had a rushing score and returned a kick for a touchdown in its first VOL win this season.

Livingston 28, Beyer 16: The Patriots could not earn their first WAC win of the season despite their second-highest scoring output of the season. After beating West in Week 2, the Patriots dropped their third straight game Friday night. They play Central Valley on the road next week.

Merced 56, Enochs 14: The Eagles could not get their offense going in their final non-league tune up against likely playoff qualifier Merced. Johnny Staggs completed an eight-yard pass to Anthony Brown and Eric Myles rushed for 78 yards for the Eagles’ second half touchdowns. Valentino Coria converted both extra points.

Lathrop 35, Davis 0: Davis was shut out for the first time this season, moving it to 1-1 on the season in WAC play and 2-3 overall. Their next game comes on a short week as they host Livingston at Downey on Thursday.

Summerville 49, Riverbank 0: The Bruins could not keep their hot start the season going in their second Mother Lode League contest. They dropped their second straight game, falling to 0-2 in league play with Friday’s loss. Riverbank takes on Gustine next week in a non-league contest.

Sonora 44, Orestimba 20: With the chance at remaining perfect on the line for both teams, Sonora showed up on both sides of the ball. The offense scored over 40 points in its third game this season and the defense held the Warriors to just 20 points. Sonora, now 2-0 in the TVL and 5-0 overall, hosts Hilmar next week.

Pacheco 42, Central Valley 14: The Hawks could not earn their first WAC win this season on the road against Pacheco. They take on Beyer as both look for their first league victories next week.

Waterford 38, Le Grand 21: The Wildcats advanced to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in league play with Friday night’s win in their league opener. Waterford hosts Southern League newcomer Stone Ridge Christian next week at 7:15 p.m.

Linden 42, Big Valley Christian 6: The Lions could not extend their win streak to three games Friday night as they were held to just six points against league frontrunner Linden. They travel to Bret Harte next week for their third MLL contest.

Ripon 28, Modesto 0: After getting a late start, Ripon shut out visiting Modesto in a rare non-league contest in the middle of its TVL schedule. Nathan Curless scored three first-half rushing touchdowns to give Ripon a 21-point lead heading into the intermission and they never looked back. The Panthers played their final non-league contest of the year. Both will play games in their respective leagues next week as Ripon travels to Orestimba and Modesto opens CCAL play on the road against Enochs.
