    What are the chances of rain in Modesto this week? Here’s the latest weather forecast

    Rain is on the way to areas across Northern California, including Modesto, according to the National Weather Service.

    The incoming weather system is expected to sweep through the region starting Wednesday, Oct. 16, the weather agency said on X, formerly called Twitter.

    Residents of Northern California can expect cooler temperatures, scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds.

    What are the chances of rain in Modesto?

    “The next system is expected to move through mid week bringing shower and isolated mountain thunderstorm chances” to the interior of Northern California on Wednesday into Thursday, the weather agency said on X.

    In Modesto, there’s a 20% chance of rain on Wednesday.

    On Thursday, there is a 10% chance of rain.

    What’s in the forecast for Modesto?

    The latest seven-day weather forecast for Modesto calls for sunny and clear skies on Monday, with a high temperature near 82 degree and a low temperature around 58 degrees.

    Light winds are expected to reach up to 7 mph throughout the day.

    Tuesday will bring continued winds, reaching speeds of up to 7 mph by the evening.

    Modesto will see a high near 81 and a low around 60.

    On Wednesday, there is a 20% chance of showers, along with light winds between 5 to 7 mph.

    The high will be near 75, with a low around 54.

    Thursday will experience a high near 71 on Thursday. The low will be around 57.

    On Friday, the forecast shows a high near 73, with a low around 52.

    Saturday’s high will near 76. The low will be approximately 51 degrees.

    What does fire weather watch mean for Modesto?

    The National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch for the Sacramento Valley and Delta regions, including Modesto, due to strong winds and low humidity.

    It will be in effect from 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, through 8 p.m. Saturday.

    The combination of gusty winds and dry conditions poses a significant risk for rapid fire spread, the weather agency said.

    In the Valley, winds are expected to range from 15 to 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph.

    Daytime humidity will drop to between 10% and 25%, with evening levels rising to 45%.

    “Fire safety precautions should be exercised to prevent fires,” the agency said. “Always have an emergency plan for if a fire starts near you.”
