    Dundee baseball tops Whiteford; Milan softball takes league crown

    DUNDEE – Dundee’s baseball team honored its seniors Monday night and gave them a good memory to send into graduation.

    The Vikings recorded one of their most impressive wins of the season, out-slugging Whiteford 8-6.

    The lead changed hands three times before Dundee pulled out the win, as Carter Ray drove in four runs and Ryan Zanger and Joey Brink recorded two hits each.

    Cam Fairchild earned the win and Ethan Layton picked up a save for the 15-11 Vikings.

    Logan Tammerine went 4-for-4 and Nate Stevens and Logan Keane added two hits each for Whiteford.

    The second game was postponed because of lightning.

    PREP BASEBALL

    Airport tops Flat Rock

    CARLETON – Jonathan Daniels drove in three runs to lead Airport to a 9-4 win over Flat Rock Monday.

    Jack Mills and Jayden Harper-Lewis each had a pair of hits for the 21-6 Jets and Sean Langton tossed a complete-game win.

    Seven different players had a hit for Flat Rock, but the Rams gave up five unearned runs.

    “You have to play clean baseball against a team like Airport and we did not,” Flat Rock coach Josh Godfrey said.

    Carlson tosses no-hitter

    GIBRALTAR – Jon Cifaldi went 3-for-4 with two runs and Preston Eighmey added two hits to lead Gibraltar Carlson to a 7-0 win over Erie Mason Monday.

    Huron’s Connor perfect

    NEW BOSTON – Senior Ethan Connor pitched a perfect game on senior day, leading New Boston Huron to an 11-0 victory over Grosse Ile.

    He struck out eight.

    Jacob Handyside, Micah Smith, Nate Morse and Dayton Miller added two hits each for 24-4 Huron.

    SMCC’s Bylow shines

    MONROE – Drew Bylow collected two hits and tossed two shutout innings as St. Mary Catholic Central beat Riverview 8-1 on senior day Monday.

    Fellow seniors Nolan Moore and Jaden Paquette provided key hits and Brady Runyon pitched well.

    Monroe bats quiet

    MONROE – Asher Simmons, Bryce Lechner, Jax Jones and Breylon Richards had the only hits of the day as Monroe lost a doubleheader to Ann Arbor Skyline 4-1 and 10-0 Monday.

    Carson Liedel didn’t give up any earned runs for the Trojans.

    PREP SOFTBALL

    Milan clinches title

    MONROE – Milan wrapped up the Huron League championship with a 12-0 victory over Jefferson Monday.

    Leila Daniels and Mariah Stines both hit two home runs and Georgia Linzell also homered. Stines finished with three hits, two runs four RBI and the pitching win.

    Daniels and Madison Mazei added three hits each and Tierra Ronyane stroked an RBI triple.

    “I have great players and great assistant coaches,” Milan coach Kirk Davis said. “We all worked hard to win this league. … It feels good that all of our work and determination has paid off.”

    Twin shutouts for Monroe

    MONROE – Aly Lewis ripped a trio of triples among her four hits and drove in 10 runs to lead Monroe to a 16-0, 15-0 sweep of Ann Arbor Skyline Monday.

    Avery Collett, Alana Aulph and Olivia McMahon were outstanding in the circle, Alana Aulph went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run in the first game. Maci Willey and Lewis had two hits each in the second game for the 17-14 Trojans.

    “I’ve really enjoyed watching our seniors Avery, Alana and Karlee (Smithers) play over the last four years,” Monroe coach Jim Davis said. “I’m happy we played well for them on senior day.”

    Dean shines for SMCC

    MONROE – Faith Dean went 3-for-4 and earned the pitching win to carry St. Mary Catholic Central past Riverview 8-4 Monday.

    Tori Busen also went 3-for-4 and Emma Gessner added two hits.

    “It was a great team win today,” SMCC coach Dani Emery said. “We played good defense and stayed disciplined at the plate.”

    Huron trio excels

    NEW BOSTON – Jenna Kuzara, Maria Robbins and Marissa Jackson combined to drive in all nine runs for New Boston Huron in a 9-1 win over Grosse Ile.

    They combined to go 5-for-9. Rylie Greggo tossed a two-hitter.

    PREP TENNIS

    SMCC sweeps Huron

    MONROE – Molly Blanchett won 6-0, 6-0 and Avery Yeager and Isabelle Fitzpatrick-Addy Boylan dropped just one game each in St. Mary Catholic Central’s 8-0 win over New Boston Huron Monday.

    Other winners for the Kestrels were Analiese Flint, Elizabeth Zwack, Hannah Borer-Claire Leach, Ionna Laskaska-Mikayla Camilleri and Gianna Benvenuto-Grace Carter.

    Sulewski wins league

    SOUTHGATE – Gibraltar Carlson’s Rylie Sulewski wrapped up her second straight undefeated season in the Downriver League by winning the No. 3 singles title in the league meet Monday.

    The Marauders were third in the meet to take second in the overall league standings.

    Addy Brake was second at No. 1 singles and Sarah Pente-Nicole Sendry were the runner-up at No. 2 doubles. Erin Riley, Julie Mitchell and Madison Jacobs-Lila Angelos placed third.

    Blissfield captures title

    TECUMSEH – Blissfield took the overall Lenawee County Athletic Association championship by placing second at the league meet Monday at Tecumseh Golf Club.

    Clinton won the league meet with a round of 351 and was second in the overall standings.

    Dundee finished fourth with 372 and ended up third overall. Ida was seventh Monday with 385 and fifth overall.

    Carter Bahn and Andy Barnes of Dundee made first-team All-LCAA along with Zack Bailey of Ida. The second team included Davin Slater of Ida and Levi Evans of Dundee.

    Klawonn, McCullough honored

    ANN ARBOR – Bedford’s Carter Klawonn finished second in the Southeastern Conference Red for season points and Brenden McCullough of Monroe was third.

    Klawonn had the second-best individual round of the day with 72 while Jayce Yarad added 81 and Frank Soss and Jayce Yarad checked in at 83 for Bedford in the regular season finale at Leslie Park in Ann Arbor Monday.

    McCullough led Monroe with 84.

    Bedford finished fourth Monday with a round of 319 and Monroe was eighth with 365. Ann Arbor Skyline took the title with 291.

    SMCC balance prevails

    MONROE – Airport’s Brayden Siders took medalist honors with a 41, but St. Mary Catholic Central took four of the next five spots to earn a 174-177 win at Monroe Golf and Country Club Monday.

    The Falcons were led by Gabriel Chinavare (42), Drew Vuich (43), Thomas Rivard (43) and Daniel Poreda (46).

    Landon McGregor added a 44 for Airport.

    Grant leads Huron

    LINDEN – New Boston Huron shot 353 to place 19th in the Top 50 Junior Tour Tournament at Spring Meadows Golf Course Monday.

    Detroit Catholic Central won the tournament with 290.

    Cameron Grant shot 84 and Anthony Robbins 87 to lead Huron.

    FRESHMAN BASEBALL

    Sparks throws shutout

    TEMPERANCE – Landon Sparks tossed a three-hit shutout in the second game as Bedford swept Dexter 9-6 and 2-0 Monday.

    Lieto leads win

    MONROE – Nick Lieto scored two goals to lead ABCDE FC to a 9-5 win over Athletico on the final night of the Monroe Adult Indoor Coed Soccer League at LevelUp Training Sunday night.

    Steve Bucknor tallied two goals for Athletico.
