    Five sports represented on May 20-26 Athlete of the Week ballot

    Baseball, softball, tennis, golf, soccer and track and field.

    All of those sports produced candidates for Monroe County Region Athlete of the Week for May 20-26.

    Make sure to cast your vote. You can vote once per hour until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.

    Last week’s winner was St. Mary Catholic Central baseball player Brennan Runyon.

    Here are the candidates in alphabetical order:

    Molly Blanchett, SMCC tennis: Won the No. 1 singles title in the Huron League Meet.

    Tori Busen, SMCC softball: Rang up five hits, including two doubles and two triples and drove in five runs in a win over Flat Rock.

    Avery Collett, Monroe softball: Drove in the game-tying run, scored the winner and earned the pitching win with 10 strikeouts in a victory over Ida.

    Karlei Conard, Whiteford softball: Doubled twice and tripled while earning a pitching win against Sand Creek; went 5-for-8 with three doubles and earned a pitching win in a doubleheader sweep of Monroe Saturday.

    Ethan Connor, New Boston Huron baseball: Threw a perfect game against Grosse Ile.

    RaeAnn Drummond, Airport softball: Tossed a two-hitter to earn a 1-0 win over Huron League champion Milan.

    Josi Farago, Gibraltar Carlson soccer: Scored twice on corner kicks, including the game winner in overtime, during a state-tournament win over Airport.

    Teddy Gault, Summerfield boys track and field: Won the long jump and took sixth in the high jump at the Division 4 Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association State Team Meet.

    Anthony Hernandez, Flat Rock baseball: Collected five hits and 10 RBI in a doubleheader sweep or Redford Thurston Saturday.

    Kennedy Irwin, Dundee softball: Racked up six hits and four RBI in a sweep of Hudson, then pushed her season average to .614 with four hits in a doubleheader against Bedford.

    Max Jenness, Milan golf: Took medalist honors in the Huron League Meet with a round of 76 at Sand Creek Golf Course.

    Nora Kinsey, SMCC soccer: Scored all three goals in a 3-1 win over Riverview Gabriel Richard in the district semifinals.

    Jess Saylor, Whiteford boys track and field: Won the 400 meters in the Division 3 Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association State Team Meet.

    Mariah Stines, Milan softball: Blasted two home runs among her three hits and earned the pitching win to help her team clinch the Huron League championship.

    Logan Tammerine, Whiteford baseball: Went 4-for-4 against Dundee, then struck out 15 in the first game and rang up five hits in a doubleheader sweep Sand Creek that completed an undefeated Tri-County Conference season.

    Megan Woelkers, Flat Rock soccer: Scored five goals and assisted on another in a district semifinal win over Ida.
