Monroe High School Principal Steve Pollzzie turned into a 'human sundae' – again

MONROE — In 2013, Steve Pollzzie was a brand-new principal at Monroe Public Schools’ Arborwood Elementary.

When three classes raised a combined $750 for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, the 75 students got to turn Pollzzie into a “human sundae,” pouring chocolate sauce and other toppings on him.

This year, those elementary students are seniors at Monroe High School, and Pollzzie is once again their principal. Last week, about 20 of the seniors turned Pollzzie into a human sundae for the second time.

Lauryn Reau, Freshman Academy student services provider, organized the senior prank with help from Pollzzie’s wife, Amy. As the former Arborwood students gathered in MHS' courtyard, Reau radioed Pollzzie, asking him to come outside.

“He won’t have any idea,” Amy told the waiting students.

When Pollzzie arrived, he immediately noticed a blue tarp the students were trying to hide. Reau confessed the plan.

“You all knew about this?” Pollzzie asked the students. “Thanks, Amy.”

After changing clothes, Pollzzie put on the goggles he was given and awaited his fate. The students poured on the same ingredients they used in 2013: chocolate syrup, spray whipped cream and sprinkles.

“There’s sprinkles?” Pollzzie asked. “This is so nice, you guys.”

Cold whipped cream was the first topping the students added.

“This brings back memories,” Pollzzie said.

Next came several bottles of chocolate syrup.

“That’s the good kind. How many bottles did you buy?,” Pollzzie said as the syrup poured over his mouth and goggles. “I can see out of one eye.”

Sprinkles were the final touch.

“This was much easier when I was younger. You guys got me good,” Pollzzie told the students. “I love you, Arborwood kids.”

Two weeks ago, the 2013 human sundae photo showed up in Amy’s Facebook memories.

“They are graduating this year. I said, we have to do it. I like to prank him,” Amy said. She contacted Reau and came up with a plan.

Amy said the 2013 incident resulted in a sticky mess.

“It was hot outside. He sat in a blow-up pool, and he just rolled it up and threw it away,” she said.

This year, Amy suggested her husband bring extra clothes to school, just in case he was involved in any senior pranks.
