As thousands of metro Detroiters still wait for their power to return after Tuesday night's thunderstorms, another round of stormy weather quickly approaches.

A cold front is expected to whip southeast Michigan's weather back into a bout of thunderstorms and strong winds Friday late afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in White Lake.

While high wind speeds are expected with a potential for large hail or an isolated tornado, Friday's storm is not expected to be as damaging as Tuesday's weather, which toppled trees across the state and left 365,000 Michiganders without power.

"It looks like it'll be more scattered in nature. Chances for some of the typical wind gusts is kind of the main threat ... But it won't be to Tuesday's magnitude," said NWS meteorologist Kyle Klein.

The thunderstorms are expected to dissipate into showers through the night and into Saturday morning. The remainder of the weekend is expected to be clear and sunny with moderate temperatures leading up to the Labor Day holiday.
