Oregon-based Dutch Bros coffee shop is building a Prattville location

PRATTVILLE − Prattville now has three drive-through coffee shops under construction.

The latest is Dutch Bros, a chain headquartered in Grant’s Pass, Oregon, which is building a location in Prattville Shopping Center. The center is on East Main Street near the McQueen Smith Road intersection. Company officials could not be reached for comment for this story.

There is a Scooters Coffee location being built on South Memorial Drive at the site of the former Church’s Chicken location, and Starbucks is under construction on Fairview Avenue near the Old Farm Lane intersection.

Dane and Travis Boersema, two brothers of Dutch ancestry, got into the coffee business in 1992, according to the company’s website. It was a way to help the struggling family dairy farm. The dream started simply enough, a push cart and an espresso machine.

The effort grew to a total of five push carts, and the first drive through location was built in 1994. The company went public in 2021 and there are 876 locations in 17 states, according to a report by CNBC. The stores are company-owned and franchised locations.
