Emmaus auctioning off home trailer to help firefighters

One of the best ways to help the Emmaus and its firefighters right now is to bid for a home trailer.

The Clayton home trailer is a 2022 model that the Emmaus Fire Department used while its fire station on Sixth Street underwent renovations, including a gut remodeling, from March 2022 to November 2023.

Measuring roughly 78 feet long and 15 feet wide, the trailer includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen with an electric stove and refrigerator, a living area, plumbing and air conditioning, according to its auction page on Municibid .

As of Tuesday, the trailer has a price of $31,000 after 19 bids. The auction, which began May 8 with an opening bid of $10,000, will go until May 29.

Fire Chief John Price said the auction’s proceeds will go toward improving the fire department’s training facility on Klines Lane, specifically repairing the steel building firefighters use to conduct live fire training, as some of the heat-resistant surfaces have reached their end of use.

“It’s an excellent opportunity,” Price said. “It’s a way for us to dispose of surplus equipment that we no longer need, and turn the money into items that we can use within the department without raising taxes or doing anything like that.”
