Lydon Patascher can now say he’s better than the late Arnold Palmer – at least at Allentown Municipal Golf Course.

The Pleasant Valley senior golfer set a course record by shooting 60 at Allentown Muni on Thursday in a high school match to break the course record of 61 held jointly by Palmer, who shot it in the 1960s, and Kyle Wambold, who shot his 61 in 2017.

Patascher finished 12-under par for the 6,845-yard course, making three eagles and seven birdies. He bogeyed just one hole, No. 17.

Patascher shot 31 on the front nine, making eagles on the par-5 third hole and par-4 seventh hole. He also birdied the sixth hole.

On the back nine, he shot 29, scoring an eagle on the par-4 14th hole and birdies on the 10th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 16th and 18th holes.

In last year’s District 11 tournament, Patascher finished tied for fourth by shooting 79 at Steel Club in Hellertown.

According to Allentown Municipal officials, the course was a different configuration when Palmer shot his 61. When Wambold shot his 61 he did it from the blue tees. Patascher played from the white tees, which are the championship tees, on Thursday.
