Rain is set to return to the Lehigh Valley this weekend after a stretch of sunny weather.

The National Weather Service said there is a 70% chance of rain and storms Saturday, followed by an 80% chance Sunday.

The likelihood of showers increases during the day into the night Saturday. Additional showers and thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and evening Sunday. Storms could bring locally heavy rain.

Forecasters said there is a marginal risk for severe weather both days.

The weather service said the weekend isn’t going to be a “washout” and that the greatest showers and thunderstorms should be mostly in the afternoon and evening of both days.
