Police shut down unsanctioned ‘car meet’ in Lehigh County

Police shut down a “car meet” that had more than 100 cars Saturday night in a Whitehall Township shopping center.

State police said in a news release that they partnered with Whitehall Township police to shut down the unsanctioned car meet that happened 7-11 p.m. at 2701 MacArthur Road. That shopping center includes a Giant, Dick’s Sporting Goods and a Walmart.

Investigators estimated there were 150-200 vehicles in the parking lot, with a large gathering of spectators.

Police issued 23 citations and 33 warnings. Citations included speeding violations, inspection violations and equipment violations, according to the release.
