Here is a roundup of Friday night’s top Lehigh Valley high school football games in Week 9.
East Stroudsburg South 20, Stroudsburg 0
Charles Capers gave East Stroudsburg South a 6-0 lead, scoring from three yards out. Both teams’ defenses held strong and the Cavaliers maintained the 6-0 advantage at the half.
In the second half, Capers’ second score of the night made it 14-0.
In the fourth quarter, Harrison Aillet found Ivan Laubach for a 61-yard score with 9:32 to go, making it 20-0 ESS.
Jim Thorpe 43, Bangor 27
Cole Lazorick’s early touchdown gave Jim Thorpe a 7-0 lead. Joshua Louk then punched it in from a yard out to extend the lead, but Bangor’s Lucas Hurd cut the lead to 13-7.
It was 16-7 as the Olympians’ Noah Geiser hit a field goal, and then it was a 23-7 game after Aaron Curran scored from two yards out. Hurd scored again for Bangor to cut the lead to 23-13, but Lazorick found Louk to make it 29-13.
Bangor answered with a Jaxson Kreider six-yard score, and it was 29-19 heading into the fourth quarter. After a blocked punt, Lazorick scored again to make it 36-19. Lazorick found Louk one more time to extend the lead to 43-19. A late Bangor touchdown from Kreider made it 43-27.
Emmaus 50, Allen 14
Emmaus’ Reilly Bechtel had a monster game. Bechtel started the night with a rushing touchdown, then added another in the first quarter. His third rushing touchdown of the night made it 21-0. Allen got on the board to make it 21-8 at the half, but Bechtel added his fourth touchdown of the night in the third quarter to make it 28-8. The Green Hornets’ rushing attack stayed hot as Jerek Cooper got on the board, and then Javier Santos added two touchdowns.
Northwestern Lehigh 51, Tamaqua 0
Shane Leh found Mason Bollinger for a 20-yard score to start it off for Northwestern Lehigh. Eli Zimmerman took a punt back 65 yards for a score and then Leh found Landen Mason for a 67-yard TD for a 21-0 lead in the first. Leh and Zimmerman connected again, this one a 24-yard score and it was 28-0 still in the first quarter.
In the second, Zimmerman scored on a 38-yard touchdown run to make it 36-0. Leh and Bollinger connected again then as well, a 69-yard score this time, and it was 43-0 at the half.
Evan Wagstaff took a handoff and went 98 yards for a score to make it 51-0 and cap off a dominant night for the Tigers.
Pottsville 28, Blue Mountain 14
Tyler Stahley took it 39 yards for a touchdown to give Blue Mountain a 7-0 lead. Andrew Allen escaped pressure and found Tsirell Curry for 71 yards to tie the game at 7-7. Allen’s 18-yard field goal gave Pottsville a 10-7 lead. However, before the half, Reese Miller scored from 36 yards out to give Blue Mountain a 14-10 lead.
In the second half, Allen hit another field goal, and it was 14-13. Pottsville cashed in on the turnover, and Juleon Bainbridge scored on a 19-yard rushing touchdown. A two-point conversion gave Pottsville a 21-14 lead. Juleon Bainbridge added a late score for Pottsville to seal the game.
