Slim Shady’s Gonna Be A Grandpa! Eminem Reveals Daughter Hailie Jade’s Pregnancy In New Video

In news that will make you feel old, rap legend Eminem has revealed that he is going to be a grandfather for the very first time!

Em just dropped the music video for his track “Temporary,” which serves as a dedication to his daughter, Hailie Jade . The clip includes footage of their relationship over the years, as well as recent footage from Hailie’s wedding to Evan McClintock in May. The video also shares Hailie breaking the news to her dad that she’s expecting her first child!

In the adorable reveal, Hailie gifted Em with a custom Detroit Lions jersey with “Grandpa” on the back, followed by a photo of the sonogram. Judging by the look on his face… it looks like he was genuinely surprised.

An Unbreakable Bond

The lyrics to “Temporary” show Eminem coming to terms with his own mortality. He wrote the song to encourage Hailie to find happiness in her life in the event of his eventual death, a testament to the love that he has for her.

“A lot of people ask me, am I afraid of death? The truth is, I think what scares me the most is not being able to say all the things I wanna say to you when I’m no longer here,” he writes. “So this song is for Hailie, for when that day comes.”

Fans have been able to see the close bond between the father and daughter over the years. He has dedicated several songs to his children throughout his career, and Hailie recently admitted that his latest tracks have made her emotional.

Speaking on her Just A Little Shady podcast, Hailie spoke on the emotions she felt in hearing both “Temporary” and another track, “Somebody Save Me,” featuring Jelly Roll. Both tracks are from his latest project, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) .

“I watched [the “Somebody Save Me” video] in entirety and I don’t think I can do it again. I definitely cry every time I hear it at all,” Scott said. “Between that and ‘Temporary’…  I audibly sobbed I think for both songs but especially ‘Temporary.’”

Considering the past struggles of Em and her mother Kim Scott, Hailie shared a deep appreciation for how her parents shielded her from the severity of their issues.

“I will say, like, watching the video back and listening to the songs, I feel like my parents did such a good job growing up where I didn’t realize how bad things were. But now as like, an adult in hindsight, it’s so scary to think about. And I think that’s why I get emotional so much, like just thinking that could have happened. Obviously that’s the point of the song, but I will say like if you’ve ever lost an addict or a loved one, I feel for you and that’s how I feel about it.”
