Here's Why I Didn't Order My Contacts From Costco -- but Plan to Next Time

I'm a new Costco member, and so far, I've enjoyed using my membership benefits to save money on everyday essentials. Getting a discount when shopping for groceries and household goods can help you keep more money in your checking account .

Costco can also help you save money on personal care items like prescription glasses and contacts. Despite having a Costco membership, I ordered contact lenses earlier this week through a different retailer. Let me explain why this was a better money move.

Costco members get a discount on eye care purchases

If you wear glasses, prescription sunglasses, or contact lenses, you can use your Costco membership to get a discount on these necessary eyecare items. Whether you need to order new glasses because your prescription has changed or you're almost out of contact lenses, you'll likely feel a noticeable impact on your wallet after buying these items.

As a first-time customer, I qualified for a 30% discount elsewhere

I recently needed to order more contact lenses and I assumed Costco would offer the most savings. The first thing I did was check the pricing across various retailers, including Costco.
