    • A Virginia woman was jailed Monday on a felony drug charge filed in Mount Airy, according to city police reports.

Morgan Yvonne Taylor, 26, of Galax, was encountered by officers during a traffic stop for an unsafe movement near the intersection of Rockford Street and Forrest Drive.

This led to a consent search of the 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitera Taylor was in, which turned up 3.2 grams of a white crystal-like substance that was determined to be methamphetamine, resulting in her being accused of felonious possession of that drug.

The Virginia woman was held in the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond and slated for an Aug. 12 District Court appearance.

    • A Mount Airy man has been jailed under a $50,000 secured bond for a probation violation and six drug- and traffic-related offenses.

Phill Alexander Gwyn, 30, of 240 Starlite Road, was encountered by officers during a July 25 traffic stop at Cook Out on Rockford Street, leading to the discovery he was wanted in Forsyth County for the probation matter filed on June 21.

Gwyn was charged on July 25 with displaying a fictitious registration plate on the 1995 Honda Accord he was operating, driving after revocation of license, exceeding a safe speed, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

He is facing an Aug. 19 appearance in Surry District Court.

    • Jose Luis Martinez, 31, of 235 Fairview Drive, was charged with driving while impaired on July 20 after a traffic crash on South Main Street near West Church Street involving a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup he was operating.

Martinez was jailed under a $500 secured bond and is scheduled to be in Surry District Court on Aug. 26.
