A joint investigation by city and county authorities involving methamphetamine, fentanyl and crack cocaine has led to two Mount Airy residents being jailed on felony drug charges.

A third person was incarcerated on a separate matter.

The lengthy investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed last Wednesday at a residence at 1243 Brooklen Ave. by members of the Mount Airy Police Department and Surry County Sheriff’s Office narcotics divisions.

It culminated with the seizure of more than 50 grams of meth, a large quantity of fentanyl and crack cocaine, city police announced Monday afternoon.

Those arrested were residents of 1243 Brooklen Ave., identified as Rodney Tyrone Travis, 50; Norma Griselda Ginez, 29; and Luke Garrett Ludwig, 27.

Travis is charged with three felonies including one count each of trafficking methamphetamine; trafficking opium or heroin; and possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance.

He also is accused of possessing drug paraphernalia.

Ginez is facing one count of possessing methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the search operation, Ludwig was found to be the subject of an outstanding order for arrest for failing to appear in court on outstanding charges that were not specified.

Travis was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond, while Ginez was held under a $7,500 secured bond.

Ludwig was ordered by a magistrate to be jailed without privilege of bond due to having pending charges in court.

Travis and Ginez are scheduled to appear in Surry District Court Wednesday and Ludwig on Aug. 19.
