Deaton, Ramirez combine for 8 goals in playoff win
Mount Airy advanced to the second round of the 1A State Playoffs by topping East Wilkes 9-0 on May 13. The Granite Bears went home three minutes early, just beating out the rain, after Paola Ramirez scored the team’s ninth goal in the 77th minute. Coalson named city finance director
Mount Airy has a new finance director — although the word “new” doesn’t really apply, given Sherri Coalson’s familiarity with the work environment at City Hall. Coalson previously was employed there for 11 years, serving the municipality in various capacities, before recently returning as finance director. That position’s responsibilities include overseeing city government revenues and expenditures, along with playing a major role in preparing the municipal budget each year. ...
