Carbon monoxide crashes Kids Fest
While moving the planned Kids Fest outdoor festival to an inside venue because of rain proved successful, that change led directly to an uninvited guest showing up: carbon monoxide. The cafeteria staff at Rockford Elementary School has achieved a perfect score of 100 on the recent inspection there. “This outstanding accomplishment not only highlights their exceptional standards of cleanliness and food safety but also underscores their unwavering passion for ensuring the well-being of the children they serve,” school officials said. “The rigorous inspection, conducted by health and safety officials, scrutinized various aspects of the cafeteria’s operations, including food handling, storage practices, cleanliness, and adherence to health regulations. No tax hike in city budget
With the “big bomb” for the 2024-2025 city budget already being dropped — a 5% water rate hike approved in March — the pain has been eased with word that no tax increase is in store. Weather forces Kids Fest indoors
Mount Airy Parks and Recreation has announced a change to this weekend's Kids Fest. The event is still going on but due to the threat of poor weather, organizers have moved the festivities inside. In a statement released early Friday they said, "With impending weather the fun of KidsFest at Riverside Park will now be packed into Reeves Community Center."
