NATCHEZ — Mary Seni has been named the first winner of the Natchez Sunset Photo Contest for the month of May.

The contest, spanning 12 months and ending April 30, 2025, encourages amateur photographers to submit their best photos of beautiful Natchez sunsets.

Seni’s photo, which she calls “February,” stands out among other entries this month both for its naturistic view of the Mississippi River and its vivid warm color.

The second and third-place winners for May are Jay Geter and Lynne Edwards.

Natchez Mayor Dan Gibson held a special presentation for Seni this morning on the steps of Natchez City Hall to present her award, a big check for $500. The contest is sponsored by Natchez resident Dr. Randy Tillman, who is privately furnishing the prize money each month.

The winners were chosen by a volunteer committee at “Arts Natchez,” a non-profit membership organization with the purpose of promoting the arts in Natchez.
